Our small print
Please read carefully before booking with us, and get in touch if you have any questions.
CANCELLATIONS: We urge you to check your diary carefully to ensure that you are available to attend the classes you are booking with us. If you are unable to attend, unfortunately our workshop blocks are non-refundable but can be transferred upon request, subject to availability.
The Pottery Hut has a number of pottery tutors, working on different days and you will usually be taught by the same tutor for a whole block. However, we will cover for one-another, and so you will sometimes meet one of the others.
In the unlikely event that we are not able to arrange cover, and have to cancel a single session, we will do our best to give you at least 24 hours’ notice. You will be offered a credit for the session to be used for another booking, or a full refund of that class fee, at the rate you originally paid. We will not be held liable for any other costs or expenses that you may incur in the event of cancellation by us.
In the unlikely event that we have to cancel a whole block, for example if there are not enough bookings to cover our tutor costs, we will offer full refund or transfer you to another suitable block subject to availability.
MISSED SESSIONS: Since our studio is likely to be fully booked for each session, we cannot offer makeup classes or refunds for you if you miss a session due to sickness, appointments or holiday. We hope that the six-week block booking system will mean that you will be able to avoid booking classes which overlap with your holidays.

CHILDREN: Children under 16 years of age must have an accompanying adult present and be supervised at all times.

PERSONAL POSSESSIONS: We don’t accept any liability for loss or damage of personal possessions and recommend leaving valuables in a safe place at home before you attend your pottery workshop.
HEALTH AND SAFETY: For health & safety, we recommend that rings/watches/bracelets be removed before using the potter’s wheel and long hair tied back. Please wear sensible footwear in the studio. Don’t take risks reaching or lifting, always ask for help.

CERAMIC MATERIALS SAFETY: The most important Health and Safety message we can give you in our studio, is to listen to the advice we give you about working with clay and glazes. Please follow instructions, and avoid creating dry clay or glaze dust. These fine materials, if breathed in over time, can cause very serious lung conditions. We teach good practice in the pottery hut, and will show everyone how to work safely and happily together with clay, keeping it clean and keeping it damp.

TECHNICAL ISSUES AND BREAKAGES: Your pottery work will only be handled by us, and other trained and experienced staff. However, dry pottery is very fragile and firing is not risk free; there is always a risk of technical failure for which we cannot be held responsible.
COLLECTION OF WORK: We recommend you collect your finished pots as soon as possible. If you are continuing on the next course, you will be able to collect when you are next in the studio. If you have a gap, or do not book for a further block of classes, we will email you to let you know when your work is ready. Please collect your pottery as soon as possible. This helps to keep our storage area clear therefore avoiding damage. If finished ceramic work is not collected within 4 weeks from the date of our email, and we have not heard from you, then sadly pots will be disposed of.

PHOTOGRAPHY: Photography is allowed at the Studio but please be mindful of others when taking photos.

DATA PROTECTION: Any personal information you give to us will be processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the new data protection legislation in GDPR from May 2018. Any personal data you provide, will be held securely and used to process your booking and for emergency purposes only. We will not share your contact details. We may take photographs of participants attending workshops to use on our social media pages and website, but will always seek permission before doing so.
The booking of a block of classes constitutes acceptance of these conditions. The Pottery Hut Ltd reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time.
